TRAINING
Collup acknowledges there may be differences in terms of features and
control buttons in the cab between manufacturers, but he says he’s constantly
updating his knowledge in this area.
“That’s my responsibility to make sure I stay up on that.”
Collup’s advice for road building and other construction-related businesses
in Canada considering heavy equipment training for their operators
is that this should happen sometime in early spring.
“The best time would be just after things start to thaw but before the
thaw is over, because after that everyone is so busy,” he said. “That way, we
can start working the operators and we can get out in the field and do some
stuff before their heavy work starts.”
