many girls in our community find sparks
and passion through this program and ultimately
break the gender stereotypes,” said

This partnership also allowed Girls
Inc. to develop the Finning Canada STEM

Provincial agreements
with municipalities result
in nearly $70 million
invested in highways
The Government of Saskatchewan continues
to work in partnership with rural municipalities
to improve highway infrastructure.
Agreements are in place to provide funding,
on a cost-shared basis, for improvements,
ranging from reconstruction to
paving to transitioning to a primary weight
supergrid highway. The estimated value of
the agreements is nearly $70 million and includes
contributions of about $18.4 million
from the municipalities.
“Providing safe and reliable infrastructure
in communities across the province
will enhance the quality of life for our citizens,”
said Highways and Infrastructure
Minister Greg Ottenbreit. “We as government
can do more when we work together
with municipalities on these type of partnership
opportunities.”
The ministry has signed the following
partnership agreements:
• Highways 18 and 28 – RM of Souris
Valley, Lake Alma, Surprise Valley
and Laurier
• McKague Access – RM of Barrier
• Highways 318 and 361 – RM
of Reciprocity
• Frenchman Butte Access – Highway 21 –
RM of Frenchman Butte
• Highway 317 – RM of Antelope Park
and Milton
• Highway 376 – RM of Mayfield
and Lakeside
The ministry is currently negotiating with
several other RMs for similar agreements.

Speeding in the
#OrangeZone cost 138
drivers some green
With construction season in full swing, law
enforcement in Saskatchewan were paying
particular attention in July to unsafe
driving behaviours in our province’s work
zones.
When passing a highway worker, flag
person or highway equipment with warning
lights flashing, drivers are required to
slow to 60 km/h or the posted speed limit.
The results are in, and 138 drivers did not
do that. Specifically:
• 104 tickets were issued for exceeding 60
km/h when passing highway workers or
occupied highway equipment within a
work zone
