Safety officer Terra Potts – Always interested in safety, good at communicating why

employing nearly 300 people
in peak construction season
in Saskatchewan, your safety program and
practices must be exceptional.
Enter Terra Potts, construction safety of-ficer
for ASL Paving Ltd.
Potts, who worked for five years as a la-bourer
and equipment operator on an ASL
base crew before joining the safety depart-ment
in 2014, always had an interest in
making sure everyone got home safely at
the end of the day.
“The company identified me as a person
with potential leadership skills, who knew
the work we did quite well and had a per-sonality
that was a good fit for ASL’s safety
culture – and to me, communicating safety
is key,” she says.
ASL provides commercial and industrial
paving, concrete, site preparation and in-spection
services for urban and rural proj-ects
across Saskatchewan, including for
streets, parking lots, access roads and other
