CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE
CARMEN DUNCAN, CHAIRMAN, SHCA
New Projects,
Same Commitment
Our association represents over
200 companies that serve the
heavy civil construction industry
across the province of Saskatchewan.
Over the last year as Chairman of the Saskatchewan
Heavy Construction Association
(SHCA), I’ve had the opportunity to talk to
stakeholders, politicians and fellow industry
workers to discuss the important work our
members do to contribute to the development
of the province.
Many of our companies have deep roots
within the province and there is a great
sense of pride that stems from the work
that we do.
This past year we have worked closely
with the Ministry of Highways and
Infrastructure – our president, Shantel
Lipp, meets monthly with the department’s
senior staff to address specific issues related
to project delivery. We also continue
work through the tri-party committee on
timely completion of contracts, earlier
tender release dates, project management
and payment issues.
Over the next year we will be working on
our association’s committee structure and
will be asking for member participation
on some of groups in order to ensure their
success.
We will also be looking at training initiatives
members can take advantage
of as provided for through the Canada/
Saskatchewan Job Grant Program and will
continue to raise the bar on our association
events.
I wish all of you a very prosperous and
productive construction season. SHCA will
continue to work diligently on your behalf
and, as always, we encourage any and all
members to contact anyone on the board
or our staff with your concerns.
