help assist in some of these areas,” said
McArthur.
Examples include the City of
Saskatoon’s decision to use an IECS sys-tem
to reline one of the decant cells at its
biosolids sewage lagoon facility.
The Parks, Culture, and Sports Depart-ment
of the Government of Saskatche-wan
has implemented an ACB system to
provide erosion solutions at Good Spirit
Lake Provincial Park, where Cable Con-crete
is used to combat heavy erosion
from wind-caused wave action along the
beachfront.
IECS also just won a contract from the
Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and
Infrastructure to help protect Highway 6
from water damage in the Quill Lakes ar-ea
in central Saskatchewan.
“We’ll be supplying a sizable amount
of our Cable Concrete product on that
specific project, and it’s going to be used
alongside of the banks of the newly raised
Highway 6 to prevent erosion of the road-side
from large waves…from the growing
Quill Lakes,” said McArthur. “It’s expen-sive
to build a road. With all that invest-ment
in infrastructure, it’s important to
protect it.”
IECS joined the Saskatchewan Heavy
Construction Association shortly after
setting up shop in the province. McArthur
says being a member enables the compa-ny
to keep up with all the construction
developments in the province and to have
a strong voice in the local industry.
“We want to be as locally involved in
the province as we can and joining the lo-cal
construction association is usually a
good start,” he said. “We’ve done that in
many other provinces we’ve worked in,
so it seemed like a no-brainer for us to do
this in Saskatchewan.”
