That’s why the GTH is strategically designed for truck traffic and

are six lanes (approximately 60 feet) wide – four travel lanes and a
shoulder on each side – which is nearly double the width of a nor-mal
city road.

why highway road construction impacts so many things from safety
to hours of service operation in addition to the quality of the roads.”
The bottom line is delivering products to consumers in the short-est
amount of time. Richards used the online shopping hub Amazon
as an example. By placing distribution centres in obscure plac-es
across the country and using different delivery techniques like
drones, Amazon is reaching its customers more efficiently than ever.
Those in the transport industry, as well as those in heavy con-struction,
wish to see that trend continue. However, with the pro-vincial
government wrestling with how best to deal with a looming
deficit near $1 billion, it’s unknown how monies will be distributed
when the budget is unveiled.
