What started out as a one-man, one-bulldozer op-eration
to build dugouts in 1953 has grown to be-come
one of the largest privately owned heavy
equipment, earth moving and underground services companies
in Saskatchewan. Today, Kelly Panteluk Construction Ltd. (KPCL)
serves clients throughout the prairie provinces. Operating out of
Estevan, Sask., the company moves in excess of eight million cubic
metres of dirt each year and has annual revenue around $100 million.
This success comes from humble beginnings. The company began
when Walter Panteluk, an established worker in the coal mining in-dustry,
and his wife, Janet, had a desire to help build Saskatchewan.
Their vision became reality and the company soon gained a repu-tation
as one of the better road builders in the province. In 1985,
Walter’s son Kelly began operating the company and has continued
his parent’s vision to help build the province.
The company has continued to grow and is regularly involved in
mine development and expansions, reclamations and contaminant
solutions, power generation structures, transportation infra-structure
and water control structures. The company was the
prime contractor for the Global Transportation Hub and Logistics
Centre, has worked on projects for companies such as Agrium, K+S
Potash, The Mosaic Company, Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan
(PotashCorp) and many others, including the Ministry of Highways
and Infrastructure.
