Resource Management International
How finding innovative solutions to road-building challenges has
helped drive success for this rural Saskatchewan company

Many of the roads in Saskatchewan’s northwest
have taken a beating with the rise in heavy haul
traffic that’s accompanied the growth of the oil
and gas industry in the province.
Resource Management International (RMI), a civil engineering
consulting firm based in the small town of Lashburn – 35 kilometres
east of Lloydminster – has come up with a number of innovative solutions
for helping Saskatchewan’s roads and highways handle the
extra load.
One is using Kevlar, the synthetic fibre used to make bulletproof
vests and body armour, to create reinforced asphalt. RMI was the
first company in Canada to utilize the technology on a full-scale
