NEWS FROM THE FIELD
CCA defines strategic infrastructure as assets required to create
new – or enhance existing – national economic, commercial or
transportation activity.
“The post-approval delays and the continuing debate between the
federal and provincial governments have created a situation that is
not predictable, putting Canada’s reputation with the Canadian and
international business communities at risk,” said Mary Van Buren,
CCA’s president.
Construction is a major contributor to the Canadian economy.
CCA’s members encourage the federal government to work with the
industry and stakeholders to advance this necessary infrastructure
project that will generate significant economic opportunity and
benefits for all Canadians.
How to prevent accidents: Five safety
best practices that can help
It has been said we are what we repeatedly do. Workers do not purposely
disregard safety rules and warnings, but it is easy to become
complacent, even with training.
Technology aids are great, and product engineers work hard to
design out hazards, but safety awareness is the greatest protection
against accidents.
Making safety a habit requires self-discipline. Know the hazards
involved. Be disciplined about using the equipment correctly, and
understanding and following all safety requirements, all the time.
