Between Regina and
Corinne Now Open
The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased
to announce that new passing lanes be-tween
Regina and Corinne on Highway 6 are
now open.
“We are excited to see the first set of pass-ing
lanes open up on Highway 6,” Highways
and Infrastructure Minister Lori Carr said.
“Passing lanes improve safety and traffic flow
and the response to the addition of more
passing lanes in Saskatchewan from first
responders, municipalities and drivers has
been overwhelmingly positive.”
Completion of this work marks the open-ing
of the first set of passing lanes on Highway
6. Another set is expected to open next week,
depending on the weather. This construc-tion
is part of a project to build several sets of
passing lanes between Regina and Estevan in
the highest traffic volume areas on Highways
6 and 39, as well as twinning short sections
on Highway 39.
“This is a major trade route for Canada and
the U.S. and we are very pleased to see safety
improvements to the Highway 6 and 39 corri-dor,”
South Central Transportation Planning
Committee Chairperson Lee Finishen said.
“We look forward to working in conjunction
with the Government of Saskatchewan on
improvements to other corridors in the ar-ea
including Highway 2 north of Moose Jaw.”
The Highway 6 and 39 corridor improve-ments
are cost shared at 50 per cent with
the federal government through the National
Trade Corridors Fund.
