to set up their crushing spreads and keep them running in optimal
condition. Operators are also able to relocate crushing equipment
as often as required to maintain proximity to material or to accom-modate
blasting or other mine activities that require spreads to be
moved temporarily.
“We pioneered common level design to accelerate set-up and
tear-down processes and eliminate the need for loose conveyors.
Every chassis has onboard feed and discharge conveyors and is de-signed
to fit together with one component feeding the next,” said
Buehler. “This allows for easier customization and offers maximum
flexibility, and an entire crushing spread can be mobilized in as little
as three to four hours, without the use of cranes. One chassis can be
pulled out and another chassis put in its place, allowing for easi-er
upgrades or changes to the configuration of the crushing spread.”
Production requirements and conditions can vary greatly from
site to site in pit, quarry and mining operations. Buehler says that
portable equipment provides operators with the convenience, ver-satility
and durability they need to keep their crushing spreads go-ing
– often 24/7 – under diverse and extreme conditions.
“You have to be able to run whether it’s really cold or really hot, or
in snow, rain or a torrential downpour. The equipment just always
has to go,” he said. “We designed our equipment to fill that need.”
To that end, Elrus components are easily accessible for mainte-nance
and can be readily removed or replaced to accommodate ser-vice,
modernization or increased production requirements.
Safety is key
Buehler says that Elrus products are also designed with safety
in mind.
“Safety isn’t just about wearing a bright vest, a pair of gloves and
safety glasses anymore,” he said. “Now, the emphasis is on removing
as much risk as possible to make the work site safer.”
According to Buehler, Elrus lowers this risk by providing equip-ment
and support that helps workers maintain their distance from
crushing spreads while they’re in operation.
“We make the equipment more efficient and that makes it safer.
It doesn’t break down as often and you don’t have to move so many
